The Entrepreneur Zone in downtown Statesboro on East Main Street offers students a wide variety of entrepreneurial tools like video conferencing and face-time with local business owners and investors.

The E-Zone opened in July of 2011, but didn’t begin full operation until August. The City Campus Store was set up to supplement the income from sponsors and membership fees, Luke Pittaway, the director for entrepreneurial learning and leadership, said.

“The goal of the E-Zone is to reach out to student entrepreneurs, to help students start their own businesses,” Pittaway said.

“For a small fee, entrepreneurs can use the zone, which has high-speed internet, a video conference room and a lecture room,” Jaye Parker, senior secretary of the E-Zone, said.

“We offer an ‘incubating period.’ Depending on the membership, people are able to have four hours of consulting and mentoring by members of the Center for Entrepreneurial Learning or the Small Business Development Center,” Parker said.

The E-Zone isn’t exclusive to student entrepreneurs, however.
