Audition for Bulloch Voices

STATESBORO — Statesboro’s Averitt Center for the Arts will host the Bulloch Voices competition to spotlight local amateur singing groups on April 25 at the Emma Kelly Theatre. The deadline for entries to the competition is Jan. 31.

The event used to be a competition called Statesboro Voice but has since transitioned into the new showcase to uplift and celebrate the talents of more Bulloch County residents, according to an email from the Averitt Center for the Arts.

“We wanted to change it from an individual competition to a group showcase because we wanted to take the pressure off of participants to raise money for the fundraising event,” said Rahn Hutcheson, executive director, “Instead of a contest, where only judges could determine one "winner," we wanted a showcase to draw attention to the many talented groups in our city and community and present all of those groups with monetary prizes.”

The showcase is will serve as a fundraiser for the Averitt Center's Creative Growth Capital Campaign.

Tickets will be $25, but students may receive a discount once the event is finalized.
