Creamer (3) will be eligible to play for the 2020 season.

Former Iowa cornerback and Cartersville native Trey Creamer has announced he is transferring to Georgia Southern.

Creamer, currently finishing up his summer classes at Fort Scott Community College, tweeted out his decision on June 2.

“First and foremost I would like to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity to play the game of football,” he said. “To the coaches at Georgia Southern University, thank you for giving me a chance to finish the race by allowing me the opportunity to play the game that I love.”

Listed at 6’0 190 pounds, Creamer announced his plans to transfer from Iowa via Twitter in December. As he had to redshirt his freshman season, he fell down the depth chart his sophomore year as a Hawkeye and never got the opportunity to play.

Per his twitter account, he is listed as a running back for GS.

He was a three star recruit coming out of high school, with offers from Louisville, Oklahoma, and West Virginia among others.

Because of NCAA transfer rules, he will be ineligible to play until the 2020 season, along with fellow RB transfer JD King.

Creamer will report to fall camp at GS beginning on August 1.
