Here’s what you missed this weekend in Georgia Southern Athletics…
The men's basketball team beat Louisiana 86-79 this past Saturday on the road. Quan Jackson reached a career milestone as he has now scored his 1,000th career point after hitting a three with 7:15 still left in the first half.
The men's team will host both Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State in Hanner Fieldhouse this week, Coastal Carolina on Thursday at 7 p.m. and the Mountaineers on Saturday at 4 p.m.
The women’s basketball team beat Arkansas State 80-67 this past Saturday at Hanner. Freshman Jaiden Hamilton produced a career-high 25 points during the game.
The women’s basketball team will travel to UL Monroe on Thursday, Feb. 13 for a Sun Belt conference game starting at 7 p.m.
The men’s tennis team remain undefeated at home after playing KSU and USC-Upstate this weekend. Diego Frinkelstein is now tied for third most wins in school history in career singles with 70 total.
The men’s tennis team will host Wednesday's matches set to start at 2:30 p.m. against Mercer. This match was originally scheduled for Jan. 29, but postponed due to weather.
The women’s tennis team defeated both Kennesaw State and USC-Upstate at the Wallis Tennis Center. The ladies went up 3-1 against KSU until the weather forced them to postpone until later in the day. The Eagles would go on to win and also beat the Spartans, 5-0.
The women’s tennis team is set to host their next three matches at home. The trio of games will begin with the College of Charleston on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The women’s rifle team fell to North Georgia at home. Lillian Herring placed fourth and was followed by Ashley Judson who just tied the school record with a 197 in the 20-shot prone, then Gabby Morrow scored a career high of 549 with Amelia Pierce just behind her.
The Eagles will compete in the last regular season match on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Citadel for the NCAA Qualifier.
The softball team opened up the season beating Hartford 10-2 on opening night. The Eagles’ success didn’t stop there, as they went on to beat ETSU 9-3 and eventually the Rutgers 5-0 in the Bash in the Boro Tournament. The team then went on to play the Army Black Knights, who just nearly beat the Eagles 7-5.
GS will play Mercer at home on Wednesday.
