Redshirt-sophomore right tackle Brian Miller (56) suffered an apparent hip injury in Friday's practice.

STATESBORO — Georgia Southern’s already young offensive line took another hit Friday as redshirt-sophomore right tackle Brian Miller went down in Friday’s practice with a hip injury.

As of Saturday, Miller’s injury is still uncertain.

“He’s still being looked at as far as the extent of the injury and everything,” Head Coach Chad Lunsford said following Saturday’s scrimmage. “We’ll update people as we learn more, but our thoughts and prayers are with him.”

Miller started all 13 games in 2018 as a redshirt freshman and was on the field for 659 offensive snaps, a season high of 65 against UMASS and Louisiana-Monroe. The Savannah native also took 73 snaps on specials teams.

With Miller being out, redshirt-junior Drew Wilson took over at the RT position in Saturday’s scrimmage. Wilson was sidelined in 2018 with an injury, but had 10 starts and 781 total snaps in 2017.

“It’s next man up,” redshirt-senior center Jakob Cooper said. “Brian suffered a bad injury, but he’s in good spirits. We all got to talk to him and he’s supporting us like we’re supporting him.”
